These wonderful dogs have gone to the Bridge... We hope to see them again some day...
JJ's Tartan Sunset Lass
"Jessie"
A Border Collie mix, she was my first dog out of college. My protector and friend, she taught me so much. She was the reason I got in to obedience training as she was a wrecking crew on 4 feet. 6/8/86 ~ 2/25/02

Applegarth's Joyous Garde
"Kastle"
Kastle was my first purebred Border Collie and the foundation of Applegarth. He was bred by Eve Marschark. He was versatile, titling in obedience, herding and agility. Most of all, he was an accomplished therapy dog that totally enjoyed spreading his infectious joy.

Ivyrose's Milady Applegarth "Zoe"
Zoe was also bred by Eve Marschark. She was a very serious young lady that enjoyed her frisbee and herding. She ran in several N/N trials and taught me so much about working and training a Border Collie for stock work. She and Kastle were bred only once, producing a litter of 4, 3 girls and 1 boy. Shortly afterwards, she was diagnosed with Discoid Lupus which changed her life and ours vastly. She died from Liver Cancer, a complication from her Lupus, 19 months after diagnosis of the cancer. 4/12/91 ~ 11/23/04

Applegarth's Chivalrous
"Duncan"
Duncan was bred by us, out of Kastle and a friend's working bred bitch named Kate that we leased. There were only 2 pups in the litter, 2 boys. Duncan won my heart from day one. He was a multiple HIT Obedience dog and my first Canine Freestyle Champion. He was a serious competitor, but had a witty side to him. Duncan was lost to Pancreatic Cancer at 14. 7/1/92 ~ 7/16/06

Merlynn's Ballad Of Applegarth
"Lyric"
Lyric was bred by Lynn Deschambeault. She was co-owned with some friends. At that time, they were unable to devote time to raising a puppy, so we agreed to do so. Sadly, Lyric developed some type of chemical imbalance in her brain which caused her to exhibit "rage syndrome"- like behavior, becoming increasingly more aggressive. When an almost fatal dog fight happened with Zoe, I made the difficult decision to euthanize Lyric. She was not safe to place in another home. We had worked with her from the time her aggression began to surface at 9 months of age. Sadly, no training intervention could overcome her aggression. She was one of the most naturally talented dogs I have ever trained on sheep and she enjoyed agility as well. 9/16/97 ~ 6/1/00

Culleymont's FF/PM Johnny Gage
"Gage"
Gage was bred by Cheryl Jagger Williams. He had a tough life medically from the age of 7 months when we learned he had OCD in his right shoulder. Unfortunately, the vet specialist who did his surgery also caused brain damage after he became hypoxic during surgery. It left him, at 9 months of age, with a seizure disorder and the brain of a puppy for the rest of his life. This didn't stop him from becoming an amazing therapy dog that visited local nursing homes and hospitals. He was also a Reading Dog that worked with children with reading disabilities. He loved his kids and they loved him. His quiet demeanor was perfect for doing therapy work. His other joys in life were chasing his flippy and snuggling. Sadly, Gage fractured his elbow after slipping on ice and a bit over a year later, he developed a Neural Root Tumor to his spinal cord from the trauma of the fracture. From diagnosis until we lost him, it was only about 10 weeks. This was a very painful cancer and when we couldn't effectively control Gage's pain, we made the difficult decision to let him go... Gone too soon.

ADCH PDCH MACH ATCH C-ATCH LAA Bronze Applegarth's Wandering Minstrel CD, RE, PT, CGC, TDInc, MJS, MXB, MXF "Piper"
Piper was bred by Cheryl Jagger Williams out of her Andy and Maggie. What can I say about him? He was my heart. Piper earned over 100 performance titles in agility, herding, rally, obedience and was a registered therapy dog. He was a conundrum of many things... his soft, sweet personality endeared him to everyone he met. On the agility field, he was driven, fast and could be quite the handful for a novice handler like me. But the ride was always so much fun with him. My first "real" agility dog, he took me places I never thought I would go including national championships. Most of all, he was my snuggle buddy, my friend, my confidante. My heart has been shattered with his loss to an aggressive nasal tumor. We said goodbye to him because his pain could not be controlled. Gone too soon... and missed so much. |
